Jules and I

a Ket & Doc children's documentary
Anne Ballon
Released
An intimate portrait of young teenager Roos, who's struggling with the transition of her transgender sister Jules. A coming of age film in an era in which nothing seems to be straight or steady. Through our protagonist Roos we understand how incredibly enriching, crazy and sometimes even lonely a transition proces in a close family can be.
About the director

Anne studied fiction film and graduated cum laude at RITCS School of Arts in Brussels and always had a predilection for working with children and teenagers. After her studies, she started working in the social field and got fascinated by the documentary genre and its social strength. ‘Jules and I’ is Anne’s first documentary and tells the story of her two younger sisters and how they cope with one's gender transition. With the combination of filmmaking, experience in the social field and her current master studies in “gender and diversity”, Anne uses her tools to create some social impact with her movies.
